Pinhole Glasses Improve Eyesight

August 6th, 2009

Pinhole glasses have been widely accepted as a way in which to improve a person’s vision.  This is because they are able to teach your brain how to find the point of focus.  In doing so, they will help to improve upon an image’s sharpness.

These glasses work because the pinholes are smaller than the size of your eye’s pupil.  As such, these glasses are able to teach your eye to relax while still being able to see an image’s sharpness.  You will be able to immediately feel this happen.  It will also be beneficial upon your health in other ways as well.  For instance, you will feel the tension in your shoulders reduced and if you have been suffering from severe headaches, they will go away.

Today pinhole glasses are seen as the modern, affordable alternative to prescription glasses.  They are made of perforated plastic and thus they are very lightweight.  This makes them ideal for anyone who is suffering from any type of eyestrain, regardless of their age.  For this reason, there are a lot of people who are starting to turn to these glasses to get some relief from the eyestrain that they are suffering from.  Many of these people have actually gone on to report an improvement in their vision.  With regular use, some of these people have even needed their reading glasses a lot less often.  This is a good thing because the more dependent you become on wearing glasses, the worse your eyesight will become since you are becoming dependent upon glasses instead of trying to exercise and strengthen your eyes.

Whenever you choose to use pinhole glasses, you should be in a well lit room where you can read a book or watch a television show.  It is even better though if you are able to wear them while you are on the computer.  Regardless of which activity you choose to participate in while using these pinhole glasses, the activity should last for at least 20 minutes a day so that you will be able to feel the benefits.

Pinhole Glasses

July 10th, 2009

Pinhole glasses are eyeglasses with a series of holes in them that allow the wearer to receive less light directly to the retina which in turn increases your field of vision. They are made from solid materials such as plastic or metal and can be disguised to look like modern sunglasses.

The glasses have the effect of reducing the width of the bundle of oncoming rays from each viewed object. Normally whenever you glance at something the full opening of your pupil accepts light, but with pinhole glasses you are receiving a bent fraction of that amount of light. If you are troubled with conditions such as myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia, or an astigmatism then pinhole glasses will increase your ability to see longer distances and see with a higher quality of detail.

The basic concept that the glasses work on is that no matter how wide open your pupils are only the central portion is receiving light. The pieces of plastic or metal inbetween the holes makes sure to keep light from reaching the outer edges of your pupil which in turn increases your focus and vision.

An easy way to demonstrate the affect of the pinholes is to close one eye while making a fist and holding it up to your open eye. Now slowly open your fist so just enough light shines though for you to see. If you do this correctly your vision will be remarkably better than when a full amount of light is hitting your pupil.

The pinhole affect can trace its origins to native Alaska. The natives would wear glasses with narrow slits in them to block out  the intense glare received from the sunshine that is reflected off the snow and ice. Anyone who lives in a snowy environment for long periods of time can develop snow blindness from the glare which can only be healed by avoiding light.

From native beginnings to modern eyewear pinhole glasses have long been used to increase the focus and vision of those people who utilize this light blocking technology.

Pinhole Glasses

June 22nd, 2009

Pinhole glasses are made of an opaque substance such as metal or plastic. Glasses are not made of glass at all. They are know as stenopeic glasses from the Greek words for “little opening”. The user looks through any of the many small holes in the material.

Completely natural, effective, durable and affordable. Pinhole glasses are an alternative to your conventional glasses providing clear vision. They are 100% safe to use and will not harm your eyes. Use the glasses to overcome impaired vision owing to any common refractive eye disorders. They block indirect rays from entering the eye thus preventing them from distorting your vision. Allows only direct and coherent light rays to pass through. They refresh your tired eye muscles and keep eyes from staring. Also, improve clarity and sacadic motion.

There are two distinct forms available for pinhole glasses. They are Traditional pinholes and Model pinholes. The ideal combination would be to use the traditional pair at home and use the model in public. One pair suits all purposes, whether it is for reading, working on the computer, or watching television.

Pinhole glasses are not just for adults but beneficial to children with myopia. They can prevent the onset of acquired myopia in children. They reduce the amount of light entering your eyes so they cannot be used in an environment having dim lights.

Some of the disadvantages of the pinhole glasses are they shall not be used while operating machinery, or any activity involving motion. Some users have said glasses cause multiple images. Some of the advantages include a clearer image at all distances and the life of the glasses last a long time. Also, they do not require any upgrade like prescription glasses. The older pinholes were flat with holes punched through them. But nowadays they have a new look that looks more like sunglasses with the holes on the inner side of lenses.

Pinhole Glasses

June 21st, 2009

Pinhole glasses, also called stenopeic glasses are made from an opaque substance that allows many tiny holes in the material through which one can obtain better vision. These glasses are created for people with conditions such as presbyopia, myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. They are not intended to treat these conditions, only to enhance one’s vision.

The pinholes work by blocking peripheral rays and only allowing rays to pass through the centrally portioned aspect of the pupil. The pupil can be open wide but pinhole glasses will only allow the rays to be passed to that one certain area. As an example of how this works, one can hold a comb in front of their eyes and look through the teeth of it. Essentially, this will give the same effect as pinhole glasses.

While pinhole glasses are a bit on the expensive side, although much cheaper than prescription glasses, they do have several advantages over regular prescription glasses. Unlike prescription glasses that only get weaker over time, pinhole glasses will last a lifetime unless the pinholes happen to break. Scratching of the lens on prescription glases has a great impact on the ability to see clearly; scratches on pinhole glasses does not the alter the ability to see. Pinhole glasses do not need to be cleaned of fingerprints and other smudges as do regular prescription glasses.

People who suffer with cataracts, the passing of light which causes it to scatter, find that pinhole glasses provide a great improvement in their vision. The glasses are also used in the prevention of Myopia, especially in school-aged children who have trouble viewing the board.

Pinholes do have certain limitations and there are some instances where they are not recommended for use.
When using them, there should be an adequate amount of light to focus on the object you are viewing. Also, young people who are very farsighted should not use pinholes.

While pinholes are not intended to treat certain conditions, they are highly effective when used for reading or other up-close work by reducing the amount of focus strain on the eye.

Pinhole glasses for blurred vision

June 18th, 2009

When we experience blurred vision, we make a quick call to the opthomologist, get an eye exam and buy one of those expensive prescription glasses. Most people know very little about pinhole glasses.

Pinhole glasses are not made of glass but of an opaque material such as plastic or metal. The person wearing these glasses looks through any of the many holes in the material. There are 2 major issues with the prescription. Improper use would leave the lens with scratches and you may have to use different glasses for reading and distance viewing. With the pinhole glasses, these drawbacks are eliminated. They provide clear vision at all distance and one need not switch glasses between watching TV and reading a book and scratches on the pinhole glasses does not affect the performance of these glasses.

Pinhole glasses reduce the scattering of light and improve the vision which helps people with cataract to see well. These glasses are better than the conventional sunglasses too. If you have ever experienced visual stress from looking at the computer, these glasses work best to reduce the stress on the eyes. These glasses play an important role in myopia prevention. It is very sad that a “minus” prescription is given to a child who cannot see the board clearly in school. The simple solution would be to have a couple of pairs of pinhole glasses in each classroom and the students could use them when they have a difficulty reading the board. It is an inexpensive way to treat the problem and completely avoids the risk involved in using a prescription glass for myopia in children.

Did anyone imagine that the pinhole had so many advantages over the prescription glasses? However, these pinhole glasses have their limitations. These glasses do not completely eliminate the blur with people over 6 diopter of myopia. Since the pinholes glasses blocks some light, it is essential to have good lighting on the viewed object. These glasses should not be used while driving or in motion.

Pinhole glasses cannot completely replace the prescription glasses. But these are an inexpensive and a better option for people with mild myopia and for those who use reading glasses.

Pinhole Glasses For Clearer Vision With Less Eye Strain

June 13th, 2009

Have you reached that certain age where the print seems smaller on everything you read? Have you always been able to see clearly without glasses, but lately you cannot quite get distant objects into focus? Do the edges of the objects in your field of view seem fuzzy? All of these conditions are easily explained. Presbyopia, Myopia, and Astigmatism are all conditions that are diagnosed by eye care professionals.

Pinhole Glasses – An Alternative to Prescription Glasses

Pinhole glasses are designed to strengthen the eyes and to allow you to see more clearly. These unique glasses were originally designed to look like sunglasses using a flat plastic lens with little pin size holes in a specific pattern. The perforations minimize the amount of light entering. This allows the retina to see an image more clearly.

You may wonder if all those little pinholes will be distracting when looking through the lenses. Although you might notice a slight honeycomb effect when viewing an object up close, when you look out farther away the pinholes are hardly noticeable, if you see them at all. After a slight period of adjustment you do not even notice the holes at all. It is worth noting however that pinhole glasses tend to lessen the area of your peripheral vision. Because of this, they should not be worn for driving or other activities where peripheral vision is important. Also, due to the reduction in light when using these remarkable specs, well placed bright light should be used for close up work and reading.

Reduce Computer and Television Eye Strain

Glare from computer and television screens along with harsh overhead light contribute to eye strain. Well positioned non-glare light combined with pinhole glasses serves to reduce the amount of strain because the depth of the field of vision is more focused.

There is some controversy as to whether pinhole glasses are of any benefit other than when used by a diagnostician. While pinhole glasses may not permanently cure eye conditions such as presbyopia, myopia and astigmatism, they do seem to make your field of vision clearer while reducing eye strain.
