Pinhole glasses

August 25th, 2009

Pinhole glasses or stenopeic glasses utilize opaque materials with small perforations in each lens, rather than glass lenses, to reduce blurriness for people with vision problems. The perforations reduce the amount of diverging rays that hit the pupil from a viewed object, thus reduced blurriness in people with refractive vision disorders. Refractive vision disorders include myopia, presbyopia, and farsightedness. There are also benefits for people with cataracts, a cataract is an opaque spot on the eye that causes light to scatter when entering the pupil, the use of pinhole glasses, reduces the amount of light hitting the cataract, less light is then scattered, and as a result blurred vision can be improved dramatically.

There are many advantages in choosing pinhole glasses over prescription glasses. The first is cost, prescription glasses are expensive and their use of glass lenses leaves them vulnerable to scratches and glass lenses break if dropped. The glass lenses in prescription glasses also need to be cleaned of fingerprints and debris, to maintain clear vision through the lens.

It is believed that the eye disorder myopia can be prevented, by using perforated lenses. Myopia is caused when the eye extends to due excessive close work, when a person develops Myopia, light entering the eye focuses before the cornea. This results in extremely blurry vision, reducing the amount of light entering the eye, eases eye strain when performing work in close proximity to the eyes.

There are certain disadvantages to using pinhole glasses. Their perforated opaque lenses reduce the wearer’s peripheral vision, which can be dangerous in certain situations. They should not be worn while driving, operating heavy machinery, or when safety glasses are required. It is also a good idea to avoid wearing them in dim light situations, as the perforations reduce the amount of light entering the eye. If using them as reading glasses, extra light will be needed to reduce eyestrain.

Pinhole Glasses

August 6th, 2009

Pinhole glasses are used by people to assist them with a variety of vision problems. They are also called stenopeic glasses, and as both names imply they work by blocking excess light and focusing the light that is allowed into the eye. Pinhole and stenopeic both refer to the small openings in the lenses. The reason for this is to block out the outer rays of light and concentrate on the center rays. The goal is to reduce the refractive errors in the lense that account for some common vision problems. Doctors use this kind of lense in testing eyes to see what level of sight can be achieved when the refractive errors in the lense are corrected by prescription glasses.

Some of the vision problems that are said to be helped by pinhole glasses are : myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), presbyopia, astigmatism, and computer vision syndrome. These glasses are not intended for driving and should not be used at those times. People have reported that they are helpful in reading, when dimestore readers are not enough and prescription glasses are too expensive. Also, it has been reported that pinhole glasses are helpful for those who do computer work in brightly lit offices. They are said to reduce fatigue and eyestrain in this work.

Pinhole glasses are not for everyone. It is possible that certain eye conditions are too severe to be helped and many doctors are reluctant to actually endorse them. However, there are many, many years of anecdotal evidence and user testimonies. Some people feel that their vision has even been improved by using these lenses. Some people claim that they are helpful in delaying the need for cataract surgery and it is also suggested that they can slow the progresion of myopia. While all claims have not been proven at this point, certainly there is enough user information to help you decide to try pinhole glasses for yourself.

Pinhole Glasses Improve Eyesight

August 6th, 2009

Pinhole glasses have been widely accepted as a way in which to improve a person’s vision.  This is because they are able to teach your brain how to find the point of focus.  In doing so, they will help to improve upon an image’s sharpness.

These glasses work because the pinholes are smaller than the size of your eye’s pupil.  As such, these glasses are able to teach your eye to relax while still being able to see an image’s sharpness.  You will be able to immediately feel this happen.  It will also be beneficial upon your health in other ways as well.  For instance, you will feel the tension in your shoulders reduced and if you have been suffering from severe headaches, they will go away.

Today pinhole glasses are seen as the modern, affordable alternative to prescription glasses.  They are made of perforated plastic and thus they are very lightweight.  This makes them ideal for anyone who is suffering from any type of eyestrain, regardless of their age.  For this reason, there are a lot of people who are starting to turn to these glasses to get some relief from the eyestrain that they are suffering from.  Many of these people have actually gone on to report an improvement in their vision.  With regular use, some of these people have even needed their reading glasses a lot less often.  This is a good thing because the more dependent you become on wearing glasses, the worse your eyesight will become since you are becoming dependent upon glasses instead of trying to exercise and strengthen your eyes.

Whenever you choose to use pinhole glasses, you should be in a well lit room where you can read a book or watch a television show.  It is even better though if you are able to wear them while you are on the computer.  Regardless of which activity you choose to participate in while using these pinhole glasses, the activity should last for at least 20 minutes a day so that you will be able to feel the benefits.

A Modern Day Marvel, Pinhole Glasses

August 2nd, 2009

Pinhole Glasses cannot be distinguished  from regular sunglasses simply by looking.  They are stylish and the little holes throughout the lens will not be noticed by anyone but you.  Being fashionable is not their only attribute.   They perform a medical function to improve your eyesight.  No need to constantly replace the glasses with stronger ones.  The same glasses can be used continuously.

Pinhole glasses will improve your eyesight without costly prescriptions and visits to physicians.  Whether you are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism, these glasses will train your eyes to see better.  The science that has gone into developing these glasses has been around for quite some time.  Scientific tests applied  to Pinhole Glasses were a success and major networks such as CNN have broadcast positive news reports on them.  Pinhole glasses can even be used as sunglasses.  Those of us suffering from eye strain due  to computer work will rave about how these glasses alleviate the problems associated with such close-in work.

It is natural that the eyeglass industry and physicians would be against such glasses.  After all any innovation that will cut into their profits is always negative in their eyes.  These glasses train the muscles of your eyes and change their shape slightly, so that these muscles function better and your sight improves along with a lessening of eye strain.  The glasses are quite inexpensive when compared to the prescription glasses with their frames that are very high priced.  Many differing models are available and there are pairs which are the latest in fashion.

It is not often that a product comes around that saves you money and produces the desired results.  At these low prices a spare or  two would be economical to purchase.  In addition, they are durable and can take a lot of  abuse.  No need to worry about  damaging the glasses.

Better Vision with Pinhole Glasses

July 30th, 2009

Are you looking for a natural alternative to prescription glasses?  Pinhole glasses may be the answer for you.

These glasses are very inexpensive and don’t need to be replaced.  Regular prescription glasses have to be replaced whenever your eyes get weaker and your vision gets worse.  Because pinholes do not use prescription lenses, you do not need to obtain a prescription from your eye doctor.  If you do scratch the lenses on the pinholes, you don’t need to replace them.  You are looking through the pinholes and scratches will have no effect on vision.  Pinhole glasses are made with a regular frame, inset with dark plastic that has many precision manufactured pinholes.

Anyone that has myopia or other refractive errors in their eyes may benefit with these lenses.  They will give you clearer vision without the use of prescription lenses.  With a weak eye, light rays come into your eyes from different angles and are not focused to one area of the retina.  Only the light rays coming directly from in front of you are in focus.  The light rays coming from the periphery are not focused and they cause a blur circle that affects your vision.  With pinhole glasses all your vision is coming from a straight line in front of you.  The outer rays are blocked and only the center light rays pass through your pupil and thereby decreases the blur circle and improves the clarity of your vision.

People that are nearsighted, farsighted, crossed eyed, or that have cataracts, astigmatism, double vision, or presbyopia can benefit from these glasses.  Fatigue and strain to your eyes is reduced because you don’t have to squint or stare in order to see.

Not everyone will benefit from pinhole glasses.  Since peripheral vision is reduced, it is recommended not to use them while driving or operating machinery. You have the best vision when used for watching television, computer screens, and any distance viewing.  You can read with these glasses but you need to have a good light source close by.  Your eyes will adjust to the black spaces around the holes.

The best way to see if they work for you is to purchase a pair and try them.

Improve Vision With Pinhole Glasses

July 30th, 2009

There is an alternative way to correcting vision naturally that many consumers are unaware of.  Pinhole glasses, also called stenopeic glasses, offer vision improvement in a natural way without the use of prescription lenses.

The way that pinhole glasses work is there are several small perforations that hold together an opaque layer of plastic or metal replacing the lenses.  The individual wearing the glasses looks through any of the tiny holes.  As only coherent rays of light are able to pass through vision is improved and clear.  This gives the effect of reducing the width of a bundle of diverging rays that come from each point of an object that an individual is looking at.  In normal conditions, without the use of these glasses, the complete opening of the pupil admits light. This is when problems such as myopia and farsightedness occur.  Since only a narrow amount of light enters the eye, the core muscles of the eyes are allowed to relax and focus more clearly.

These type of glasses are used to help:  Eye strain, fatigue, headaches, and blurry vision while using a computer, and to protect the eyes from exposure to harmful light rays.  They are not appropriate for persons with severe nearsightedness as there is a honeycomb effect that does not go away.  Children and adults alike can wear these type of corrective glasses.

There are several advantages of using pinhole glasses over prescription glasses.  They help our ability to focus on words and pictures more closely, provide improved image at all distances, they can be used for a lifetime without replacement unless broken, scratching them does not affect function of the glasses, they do not have to be cleaned of fingerprints, and are much cheaper than prescription glasses.

However, pinhole glasses do reduce peripheral vision and brightness which make them unsafe to wear while driving or operating machinery.

Pinhole Glasses

July 28th, 2009

Pinhole glasses are the latest in non-prescription vision enhancement. These glasses are similar to your regular prescription glasses except instead of using specific glass lenses several holes are drilled in the plastic lenses to block out excess light.

Pinhole glasses are typically made out of plastic or similar materials that will retain their frame when having several small holes drilled through them. The lenses are hard plastic that through the manufacturing process have tiny holes drilled in them to block out light from hitting your pupil. The technology behind these glasses comes from native Alaska. Natives in the area used to create glasses by using a very basic from of this technology. They would drill holes in bones so that they would still be able to see properly but they wouldn’t allow excess light to enter their eyes through snow reflection. Before the glasses native had the problem of snow blindness, whenever they would spend excess time outside looking around the landscape and the snow the light coming from the sun would reflect off of the snow like a mirror right into their eyes damaging their vision.

From native beginnings we now have pinhole glasses that can be disguised to look like modern day sunglasses. Whenever you wear the glasses outside and are exposed to the sun only a slight amount of light is allowed to enter the pupil. Now mater how wide open your pupil is there is still only a fraction of the suns light entering it increasing your focus. While these glasses increase your focus they may have the tendency of decreasing your peripheral vision, but it is a small price to pay for near perfect vision without having to visit an optometrist.

Overall if you are interested in pinhole glasses and what they can do for your vision talk to your local optometrist or check out what is available online. Once you start wearing the glasses you will find it hard to go back to conventional forms of vision correction.

The Advantages Of Wearing Pinhole Glasses

July 27th, 2009

Pinhole glasses, also known as stenopeic glasses, are made from metal or plastic instead of glass.  The lenses of these glasses consist of many small holes.  These holes allow the user to see objects much more sharply. The small openings drastically cut down on the width of the divergent or peripheral rays that strike the retina and cause blurriness–the distortion associated with myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), presbyopia (a focusing problem associated with aging) and astigmatism. These glasses are designed to be so close to the eye that the small apertures are usually not a distraction.  The holes are a bit more noticeable when reading.

Some of the inherent advantages of pinhole glasses include the following: They provide a simple and cheaper alternative to prescription lenses for reading and seeing things up close.  Also known as multi-focal glasses, they provide a continuous variable curve that enhances vision at all distances.  Bi-focals and tri-focals are only effective at fixed distances.  Other lenses wear out and need replacing.  Unless the pinholes break, these glasses can last for many years.  They do not scratch like regular eyeglasses.  Smudges or dirt does not deter from their acuity.  These glasses can also help people who have cornea surgery with night vision glare.  Moreover, children with special needs can avoid the embarrassment of wearing bifocals.  And people with detached retinas need to limit the motion of their eyeballs.  These lenses are designed to alleviate this issue.

Pinhole glasses are an excellent alternative to prescription glasses, even among people with myopia.  Children can adjust to using these glasses early if they have trouble seeing the blackboard.  These glasses can also cut back on eyestrain from looking at a computer.  Pinhole glasses are recommended for people with diopters of myopia of 6.0 and under.  Disadvantages include the lack of peripheral vision and lighting.  However, the advantages to these glasses far exceed the negative aspects.  They are available in many unique styles including sunglasses.
