Understanding Pinhole Glasses

June 14th, 2009

Pinhole glasses, which are also known as “stenopeic glasses,” are glasses that have a series of small pinholes in them. Their frames are made of either metal or plastic. They are considered to be an affordable modern alternative to eyeglasses since they will provide you with clear vision. An added advantage to them is that they will strengthen your eyes and keep them from growing lazy. These glasses are able to help correct refractive errors such as farsightedness or a diminished focusing range. As such, these are especially ideal for the elderly and for computer users too.

These pinhole glasses work in a way that is similar to the way that a pinhole camera works. The light rays that enter into the weak eye but cannot focus and thus the image is blurred. However, the pinhole glasses help the rays focus on the retina thus producing a clear image. Another benefit to these glasses is that they will help your eye muscles relax as they will no longer have to make an effort to bring things into focus.

This is considered to be a 100% safe eye correction tool for people of any age. Pinhole glasses have some obvious advantages over conventional glasses that make them better to use. Not only will they improve your clarity and resolution but they will increase an object’s brightness and help you be able to see things regardless of their distance. These glasses are also made of a lightweight and durable material which is both attractive and affordable as well.

It is important to note that you should never wear a pair of pinhole glasses when you are driving or operating heavy machinery. This is because they will diminish your peripheral vision. So, while pinhole glasses have replaced a lot of the more traditional eyeglasses that people wear, it is unfortunate that they simply cannot replace these eyeglasses in every situation.
